What do I need to apply as Staff?
We accept Staff to work as nurses, kitchen directors and Camp Leaders who have graduated from high school, are over the age of 18 and have experience with our Camp I Am Special program or comparable experience.
Camp Leaders must be able to work on-site at least four weeks during summer camp. The Camp I Am Special/Disabilities Ministry Office will set a schedule based on everyone's availability. Kitchen Directors and Nurses must be able to work at least a one week Camp session.
Camp Leaders are required to attend a week of training held at Camp St. John. Kitchen Directors and Nurses are required to attend a full day of training as well.
ALL Staff MUST complete a background screening and be fingerprinted in order to participate for ANY camp session. **Dates are TBD** The earlier you submit the information, the better. Instructions are available below. Please email us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
What should I expect during the application process?
- Applicants need to complete an online application
- Applicants MUST submit a resume to the Camp I Am Special office. You can mail them to the office or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. The resume should highlight past work, leadership positions, and/or community involvement.
- Applicants may be called for an interview. Interviews can be conducted in person or over the phone.
- If selected, applicants must be lifeguard certified (which includes CPR certification) and certified in Professional Crisis Management. Both of these trainings will be provided at Camp at no cost to the applicant during the month of May. Dates and details to follow.
ALL CAMP I AM SPECIAL Staff are required to attend Protecting God's Children (http://www.virtus.org/) and are required to get LIVESCAN fingerprints through the Diocese of St. Augustine. Please contact the office for further information on registration for this process.
